RE: WW FK1900 Trauma!?

I've got an 05 Superlite FK21 and have been watching my frame like a hawk. Yes, it's the shorter version and "shouldn't" have a problem according to WW, but it was made with the same thinner gauge steel than what is used on newer models. I'm planning on having my frame reinforced this fall as part of some front end maintenance, (sand blasting and paint) just to be safe. If I were in your situation and found myself with a possibly bent tongue, I'd get the tongue cut off and a new, heavier gauge steel one put back on. Good luck!

RE: Time for new tires...

I was faced with the same situation 2 weeks ago and went with the Maxxis E's. I've had the rig out twice since then on some really nasty roads and they have been awesome, not to mention the peace of mind. They look so much stouter than the others you are considering.

RE: 225 Tow Max 8ply vs. Maxxis 10 ply?

Thanks for the feedback. I ended up putting the Maxxis tires on. Hopefully they'll work well. They look great and don't squat at all.

225 Tow Max 8ply vs. Maxxis 10 ply?

I got the axles flipped on the 21' SuperLite this past weekend, (I'll try to get some photos posted). Now it's time for the tire upgrade. I'm running the Carlisle 205s in the C load and blew 2 on my last trip. Schwab: Tow Max ST225/75-R15 8 ply $103 Local Tire joint: Maxxis M8008 ST225/75-R15 10 ply $119 I'm probably going to get the Maxxis based on some good reviews here. Plus they are the only company I've found that sells a 10 ply in the 225 size. The dealer liked the Maxxis also because he said the 10 ply don't squat as much. Any thoughts or opinions to consider in the next few hours? I'll have to look to see what PSI my wheels can handle also as the Maxxis hold up to 80. Thanks!

Awesome! Thanks for the quick feedback guys!

Anyone user the Dexter Over/Under on a WW SuperLite?

Hey guys. I'm tired of dragging bottom, so I'm getting ready to flip the axles on my 2005 Weekend Warrior FK21. I was going to just buy new u-bolts and pedestals and get them welded but came across these kits from Dexter that don't require any welding, (although I'd get them tac welded anyway). Kits for sale Installation Instructions Has anyone used these kits, particularly on these trailers? It seems like a easy way to go. The WW SuperLites have that pivoting spring system between the two leaf springs if that makes any difference. I don't think that should matter though does it? I'm also going to upgrade my tires from the original 205 C loads to a 225 D load with the extra room. I blew 2 of the originals last weekend. Thanks for the help!

RE: I need help with the "toys" toy haulers

All of the brands seem to be making some great machines these days. 500cc seems to be a good size for most people also. I personally recommend the Polaris 500 EFI. It's a good all around machine with some nice features, but especially nice as far as comfort goes. The cush suspension, plush seat, knee bolsters and overall size make for a very nice ride. If I were out to buy my dream machine and money wasn't an issue, I'd look at the Can-Am Outlander 800 H.O. EFI XT in Camo. 10k is a little out of my range though. The Polaris 800 EFI is pretty sweet also. Good luck!

RE: Here is who Supports the Sierra Club

Great info. Add one more reason why I don't buy Honda anymore. Very ironic. They advertise in off-roading magazines all the time.

RE: Here is who Supports the Sierra Club

Join up and get involved. Most of us here have toy haulers because we have toys to haul. Get with Blue Ribbon Coalition and learn the truth about the Sierra Club's activities in your area. Sign up with USA-All if you live or recreate in Utah. Also, be sure to support business that support these great organizations. It's amazing how many vendors in this sport help out while others sit idle.

RE: show me your 19ft loaded

I've got a 21 instead of the 19, but I have about a foot of extra space plus the room taken up by one of the bikes. In a 19 I'd be able to fit the 2 full size ATV's plus 1 full size dirt bike. I also put two smaller dirt bikes in the kitchen area. http://i189.photobucket.com/albums/z287/dashwort/DSCN4487.jpg

RE: pressure washers-which do you use w/ your toy hauler?

I know some guys take a pressure washer with them to the races, but I do all of my cleaning at home. When I've got 6 dirty machines + truck + trailer + gear, it can be a lot of work to clean-up after having fun. I have a pressure washer I bought from Home Depot with the Honda engine and it's worked great. I mainly use it for the truck and trailer now though after learning about this trick for cleaning the machines: Get a pump sprayer (like the kind you get for spraying weed killer) and fill it with 2 caps of laundry detergent and water. Spray the machines down good with that while they are still dry and let it soak in really good. Then use a regular hose with a nozzle after that and everything comes off slick and easy. It took a time or two before it really started working well, but I'm a believer. Plus you don't have to worry about penetrating rubber seals with water on accident. I'll also spray the underside of the body panels on all of the machines with silicone spray or WD40 at the start of the trip when I know the mud is going to be bad. That helps a lot in getting it to come off nice and easy. I use the good old bucket of hot/soapy water and the soft brush with extension wand to clean the truck and trailer and then use the pressure washer on the lowest setting to clean them up.

RE: Overall length difference between 5er and TT?

How far is it from your trucks axle to where the hitch ball is located? That would the difference. Just make sure you're looking at the LENGTH of the travel trailer and NOT the model number. I didn't get this the first time, but I think what you're saying is that the length you use is the difference between the TT hitch ball and the axle of the truck. If that is the case, I'd pick up about 3 feet for that measurement plus 3 more feet by getting rid of the tongue on the TT for a total of 6 feet. (My 21 foot TT doesn't include the tongue.) That means a 31 foot 5er should be about the same overall length when combined with my truck as a 25 foot TT. I'll start looking around at some trailers and bring my tape measure with me since it sounds like the model numbers are rarely accurate. Thanks again.

RE: Overall length difference between 5er and TT?

Thanks for the replies guys. I think I'm still missing something though. I thought that there was a difference between 5ers and TT's in total combined length since part of the 5er goes over the bed and you don't have the long tongue. Say my truck is 12 feet long, (I have no idea what it really is) and I hook up to a 30 foot 5er and a 30 foot TT, what would be my overall length. That's the length of the body of the trailer, not including the tongue. The complete TT rig would be 46 feet: 12 + 30 + 4 (Truck + Length + Tongue) I thought the 5er would be shorter like maybe 38 feet: 12 + 30 - 4 (Truck + Length - Length of trailer that fits over the bed of the truck) Am I way off? Thanks again for the help.

Overall length difference between 5er and TT?

I camp in the woods a lot and don't want to go too long, so a 5er may let me get a little more trailer for my overall length. Seems like the 5ers are generally taller too which is as much of a problem. But at least that is posted on the specs. Is there a general rule of thumb for the actual length past the end of your truck? I've got a 21 foot TT and would like to go up to a comparable 25 foot TT or equivalent 5er. I know they all play different number games, but just looking for a general rule. Is a 25' TT about the same as a 30' 5er? If not, what is? Thanks!

RE: broken window replacement

Sorry to hijack, but I'm picking up a replacement front window for my WW tomorrow and was wondering if there is a special glue used to hold those windows in. I see that there is a white rubber seal keeping the water out, but there is some gray/black goop holding the old glass in. Any ideas? Otherwise I'll probably just use some silicone.

RE: Broken Water Hose?

Good idea. I'll take a piece with me. It looks like a 3/4 inch inside diameter hose, but it'll be nice to match it.

RE: Broken Water Hose?

Awesome! Thanks for the great info. I think I may be lucky because the vent and fill is literally right above the tank, so the hose isn't more than 2 or 3 feet long on mine. Hopefully a quick job. Thanks again for the reply.

RE: Broken Water Hose?

Thanks for the reply. The venting makes sense. I think I'll head to Home Depot and get a few feet of vinyl hose and just get it replaced. It keeps breaking with even the slightest movement, so I'm not sure if I could even get it plugged or temporarily fixed. Thanks again for the reply.

Broken Water Hose?

I was filling up my water tank on my 21' Weekend Warrior FK Superlight last night when I noticed water leaking out from underneath the trailer. I looked and saw the hose pictured below leaking and split wide open. I went to move it a little and it split again and was very brittle. This and one other larger hose connect from the tank and run up to the fill box, but I can't see the actual box connections as they are all sealed up. My guess is that this is the vent hose. Any suggestions for a quick fix until I can tear the box apart and replace the hose entirely? What is the purpose of the vent anyway, other than to make it easier to fill? Thanks for the help.
